Driving Community Climate Action

We’re inviting residents to engage in discussions about sustainability initiatives across Dundee, share their feedback on environmental issues and learn how they can contribute to mitigating climate change. Conversations cover a wide range of topics including green spaces, biodiversity, LED street lighting, active travel, flooding, electric vehicles, energy use, air pollution and climate justice, among others. Users can even test their knowledge with our climate quiz.

Project Objectives:

  • Engage with a wider variety of people in the community on climate change
  • Increase awareness of the work the council is doing to make Dundee more sustainable
  • Understand community perceptions on climate change
  • Encourage more people to speak about climate change
  • Provide support and tools on how the community can be more resilient to climate change

Project Outcomes:

  • Provided insightful feedback on improving local areas, such as Dundee’s green spaces and EV charging infrastructure
  • Gathered individual efforts to tackle climate change. Examples include recycling, buying second-hand, educating others, car sharing and reducing meat consumption
  • The data gathered enables the council to enhance educational efforts, develop new resources and more effectively engage the community
  • Residents are now well-informed about local sustainability initiatives and how they can get involved

Hello EA Outcomes:

“The tool can be a unique way to learn about some of the great work already taking place in Dundee to address the climate and nature emergency - showing off some things that residents might not be aware of that are happening right around the corner from them.”

Heather Anderson,

Climate, Environment and Biodiversity Convener Councillor
