Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

Since 2017, the region has seen an increase in suicides, prompting the introduction of Hello Lamp Post at three key physical locations and online. Since 2021, we’ve provided the community with round-the-clock access to mental health advice and resources, to support the council’s “Let’s Talk” campaign. Our platform offers tailored assistance for both adults and those under 18, ensuring help is available whenever it’s needed.

Project Objectives:

  • Offer the community easy access to vital mental health support
  • Promote local wellness activities
  • Contribute to reducing suicide rates within the community

Project Outcomes:

  • A third of users have been referred to critical mental health support and guidance
  • In Airdrie, within the first 24 hours of activation, one person identified themselves as ‘at-risk’
  • 23% of users have been promptly directed to emergency support, potentially saving lives

Hello EA Outcomes:

"Although this might seem low, when compared to the rising numbers of suicides in the region, this number is significant.”

Stephen Penman,

Head of Strategic Communications,

North Lanarkshire Council
